Anna Coane
Anna is a TV Producer and Comedy Writer based in South East London. The first screenplay she ever wrote (a short, dark comedy) won a national screenplay award and she now has 20 year’s experience producing TV. This background in producing means she understands how TV is made from pitch to broadcast. She has produced and written for some of the biggest names in UK comedy and entertainment including Omid Djalili, Alexander Armstrong, Julian Clary, Josh Widdicombe, Julie Walters, Frank Skinner, Rick Edwards, Suzi Ruffell, Tom Allen, Keith Lemon, Russell Howard, Rob Lowe, Bear Grylls, Tom Baker, Matt Edmondson, Matt Tebbutt, Andi Oliver and more.
She worked with The Dawson Bros to create scripts for ‘Don’t Ask Me Ask Britain’ (live comedy studio show for ITV), and ‘The Revengers’ (scripted comedy pilot for ITV), and with Dan Gaster to write ‘Keeping Up With The Kremlin’ for C4 – she produced, directed, ran the writer’s room, and co-wrote (with comedians Steff Todd and Josh Jones) this scripted comedy pilot featuring archive and deep fake tech.
She just oversaw the scripting process on ‘I Can Do It You Can Too’, ensuring the writing, script editing and delivery of 80 scripts for this Cbeebies presenter-led format featuring comedy sketches (series 2 is now on BBC iPlayer).
Before that Anna wrote 20 episodes of ‘Meet The McQueens’, a kids comedy/reality series, which aired on CBBC in early 2023 (now on iplayer).
On ‘Live At The Electric’ (BBC3) she Script Edited and Produced stand up and sketches for Gemma Whelan, Diane Morgan, Jo Wilkinson, Luke McQueen, Gabby Best, Jacob Edwards, and Alexis Dubus.
She is currently collaborating with female, neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+ writer/performers to develop content as varied as: a kids live action and animated comedy drama series about a boy who talks to dogs; an historical sitcom; a comedy drama about motherhood and childlessness; a comedian-led documentary about the healing power of dance; and science/comedy podcast.
She is also a Funny Women ‘Glitter Project’ Mentor/Speaker, and a RTS Student Film Awards judge (comedy category).
