Britain’s Got Talent Semi Finalist 2023
Abi Carter-Simpson is a comedian, singer-songwriter and actor whose original ukulele songs combine sharp wit, hilarious heartfelt storytelling and a touch of positivity!
She appeared on Britain’s Got Talent 2023, where her original compositions and engaging performances earned her a spot in the semifinals. Her witty songwriting with ukulele melodies left a lasting impression on both the judges and the audience.
Since then, her songs and stand up have captivated over 20 million viewers online and earned her a spot on some of the most prestigious stages and lineups across the country and beyond. She is a regular on the pro comedy circuit both as an act and an MC and her unique positive, energetic and love-for-life qualities on stage leave any audience feeling at ease. She has spent many years honing her craft in front of an eclectic mix of audiences from the biggest clubs in the country to military bases to mini tours around Europe - she really has done it all! No stranger to the festival scene, over the past few years she has added Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds and Download to her roster to name a few.
Abi’s journey into the spotlight began at 18 years of age where she attended Guildford School Of Acting gaining herself a degree in Musical Theatre and was labelled as the “One To Watch” by The Stage Newspaper. She spent many years paving a career in the live arts performing of the biggest stages across the UK and London in various different productions. Her film and TV credits include: Blinded By The Light (Warner Bros) and Agatha Raisin and the Deadly Dance (SKY1) alongside adverts for Ubereats and Zizzi.
Alongside the comedy industry Abi is a recording artist with Regent Street Records and her first two singles reached of 15,000 streams within the first month. She is also endorsed by Ortega Guitars who supply her with incredible ukuleles to keep her sounding epic!
Beyond the stage, Abi gained her QTS in Primary School Education, balancing her passion for education with her dedication to entertainment for many years. She spent two years in the classroom as a Year 6 teacher before taking on the role of Primary Music Lead for her school; teaching singing and music and spreading her passion of the arts with over 600 pupils every week! Her lessons were renowned for being energetic, inspiring and allowing children to shine and be themselves. She is a continuous advocate for the importance of fun, accessible and inclusive education for all and how performance, singing and comedy in schools is imperative for the well-being and all rounded-ness of young people allowing them to grow in confidence within themselves and in front of their peers. Since leaving the teaching profession she continues her passion for young people most recently being given the title of Champion Of Childhood for the NSPCC.
She has hosted and performed at numerous corporate events for charities, International Women’s Days and even for the US Air Force.
