CHORTLE STUDENT COMEDY AWARD FINALIST 2021
FUNNY WOMEN STAGE AWARD FINALIST 2021
Sharon Wanjohi is an up and coming stand up comedian with a varied act ranging from shock to absurd comedy. A Chortle Student Comedy Award Finalist and Funny Women Stage Award Finalist, she talks (maybe too much) about children's films and the cartoon dilfs that inspired a generation of sexual awakenings. And she thinks Ratatouille is a commentary on race.
In 2024 Sharon has been busy writing on shows such as Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Munya Chawawa’s Election Doom Scroll and Late Night Lycett. She also returned in series 6 of The Stand Up Sketch Show. In 2023 Sharon presented a section on The Laura Whitmore Breakfast Show, features on fifth series of ITV’s The Stand Up Sketch Show and Comedy Central Live S3. In 2022 Sharon featured in the Channel 4 online series Jokes Only A … Can Tell and The Big Breakfast.
‘A spark in her performance…….. memorable zingers, she’s witty and engaging company’ Steve Bennett, Chortle
‘She impressed with a set with plenty to say about race and gender, laced with sarcasm but delivered with a relaxed smile. As well as a handful of solid gags, silly impressions and cod-boastfulness prove she has several strings to her comedy bow, and place her firmly on the ‘one to watch list’.’ Steve Bennett, for Chortle Student Comedy Awards
